Understanding Your Choices:

Active Adult Communities: Many are master designed communities, with spacious private homes, condominiums, or town homes. They usually have many recreational activities, clubhouses, and health facilities for the residents. Different types of age limits exist, independent to each community.

Retirement Communities: Specifically for those 55 years and older. From Master planned private home communities, apartment complexes, to Mobile Home Park. Many have clubhouses and activities for active seniors.

Apartments: Independent living for those that meet specific age requirements.

CCRC: Continuing Care Retirement Community. Designed to provide a continuum of care, so that one never has to move from their community, again. Offering independent, assisted and skilled nursing care.

Independent Living: Live independently in your own room or apartment with amenities such as meals, transportation and activities usually included in the monthly fee.

Residential Care: Typically single-family homes licensed by the state of residence, to provide meals, assistance with medications, bathing, and dressing. Some assist with transportation is usually provided, but that it is individual to each contract
for services.

Assisted Living: Designed to meet the needs of those elders that need help with activities of daily living. Housing, meals, and supportive services are also
provided.

Skilled Nursing Care: Facilities licensed by the government to provide health care and services in managing complex medical conditions, or for individuals that require full care with medications, and activities of daily living,

Alzheimer’s/ Memory Care: Facilities that provide specialized care units for residents with Alzheimer’s or other forms of memory loss. Licensed by the State.
